PatCHquilt Switzerland

The two middle letters in PatCHquilt stand for Switzerland. At the Quilt Expo in Salzburg in 1988, it was decided that it was time to found the Association of Swiss Quilters. Some very enthusiastic quilters got together, put all their energy into the project and by April 1989 the first Swiss Bulletin came out. The number of members has increased yearly and we are proud to have 1,300 members at present.

The board, consisting of 7-8 members, puts a lot of work and effort into finding new ways to reach new members, reconstructing and working on the quarterly magazine and organizing national exhibitions.

Our country is very small, yet with a diverse structure with its four languages. Our magazine is divided into two sections; the first half in German and the second half in French. Our reports go through many hands before they reach their final destination. We hold a general assembly in June for all our members. This is organized by a local group together with the board. We also organize an assembly of delegates from the different groups in Switzerland every January. As of today approximately 85 groups are registered.

Our thanks go to all the people who have helped and spent many hours of work in making it possible to have much joy in our hobby and art. We are proud to be a member of the EQA, which helps to promote the art of patchwork and quilting in Europe.
