Quiltersgilde

The Dutch Quiltersgilde was founded in September 1983 and is a non-profit organization. Its aim is to promote patchwork and quilting throughout the Netherlands. Currently the Quiltersgilde has 12,600 members. Its annual general meeting takes place in April. To achieve its goal the Quiltersgilde publishes a quarterly magazine called Quiltnieuws.

Twice a year an exhibition is organized: in spring the miniature exhibition with approx. 125 small quilts and in September the exhibition of quilts by members with 225 entries. Workshops are also organized in different parts of the country.

In autumn and spring, regional days are organized where members can meet with show and tell, a quilt shop and learn a new technique or pattern. These regional days are attended by 4,000 members and guests yearly. In 2006 the Quiltersgilde launched an educational programme called "Quilten Speciaal" lasting for 1½ years.

The Quiltersgilde provides a library with books and magazines which can be borrowed. All activities are carried out by volunteers.
