The Hungarian Patchwork guild was founded in 1989 and now it has nearly 800 members. The Guild has a black and white monthly journal, Hírfoltok (Newspatches) and a colour magazine, Színfolt (Dash of Colour), published quarterly. Both magazines inform members about the latest news, exhibitions in Hungary and abroad, contests and courses. National exhibitions are held twice a year, one in Budapest and one outside the capital. The Guild has seven regional organizations which meet every 3-4 months for show & tell. It also has more than fifty local groups all over the country, many of them working for charity.
The board consists of 7 members who meet every second month. The meeting of group representatives, which is the highest decision-making forum, is held once a year.
The Hungarian Patchwork Guild is a non-profit organization which does not carry out commercial activities. It has three main sponsors, none of which are members of the Guild.
The aim of the Guild is to promote quilting in Hungary and to get more and more people involved in this textile art. There are many courses held all over the country where new and old members can develop their quilting skills.
