Our Association was created in 1984. From the beginning its growth has been spectacular, numbering around 14,900 members today. Created by some courageous pioneers, it had to adapt to an ever growing interest in quilting.
The founders of the Association, very quickly had to cope with a vital necessity, that of being represented all over France. As from 1986, one representative per French department was nominated. This is still working today and we count on the representatives to keep contact with our members, through meetings and friendship gatherings, and to relay information. They organise trips to visit exhibitions, sometimes abroad. They extend invitations to artists or lecturers, propose exchanges and also organise exhibitions. Once a year they meet for a week-end to exchange ideas, experiences or ask questions.
From the beginning a magazine was issued, entitled "Les Nouvelles du Patchwork" (Patchwork News). It has grown to a 116 page quarterly magazine highly appreciated by all our subscribers at home and abroad. The Association is run by a 10 member board which meets once a month.
Our internet site www.francepatchwork.com gives all the information one can wish. A forum and a chat room gather enthusiastic (or critical) websurfers!
